I use AdAware, Spybot S%26D, Hijackthis, and Spyware Doctor, along with the popup blocker that comes installed in my Mozilla I am set. Also instead of using Norton, use ZoneAlarm, its cheaper and you get more, the last few versions of Norton are Windows Killers

I strongly recommend the following setup:

Get Mozilla Firefox!! This is the best and most secure free internet browser

Get Zone Alarm Firewall. This firewall program prevents the worst viruses and popups from getting to your computer.

Also make sure that ad-aware is current and updated.

Next you will want AVG Anti-Virus. This uses the least memory of anti-virus programs including avast, but it also is constantly scanning.

Make sure you immunize spybot every time you update!

Try yahoo toolbar it comes with popup blocker and check for spyware, hijacker,adware, and some virus PLUS it's FREE as well it have up-dates
Use Netscape's most recent browser. It has a pop up stopper included. Plus it is better than IE.
On internet explorer go to tools/pop up blocker and turn it on.... fire fox also has a pop up blocker...

run your ad-aware and spy bot at least once a week - these 2 programs should eliminate most pop ups - but you need to run them a few times...

pop up blockers can stop you from looking at profiles, slow down your e-mail, chat sessions, downloads... I have all mine turned of now... ad-aware and spybot - have taken care of the pop ups!!!
