My Home Computer has been hit with a Virus that I can't clear up on my own. what can I do? Here

At 1st my comp completely crashed. I was able to run ad-aware to keep it from crashing but it hasn't completely fixed the current problem. I have tried downloading Trend AV, but when I run the program, it says the download was corrupt and cant complete the scan. I have downloaded it directly for the internet on that comp, and I have downloaded it from my office comp to a CD, %26 run it online... Same thing every time. Then I tried AVG, but the same issues presented themselves. I don't know what else to do. Is there anyway I can fix this problem without paying someone else to do it. Oh ya, I have tried to run defrag it crashed the system. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall programs and it crashes the system. I think the offending entity is from ''Adware'' (Not ad-aware) and somthing about surfnet. When ever I do manage to get on-line, I am inundated with a new batch of viruses. I mange to clean them up with Ad-Aware and have to start over. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Try doing all the scans and removals while you are in Safe Mode. Hit F8 when you start your computer and select Safe Mode - Let it boot and then run all the scans that you can. Delete Everything the scans find, reboot into safe mode again and do it all over again. You will need some other software too - Try Spybot Search and Destroy - www.safer-networking.org. It finds things that Ad-Aware doesn't, and vice-versa for that matter, so use them both. If all else fails you will have to Format and Re-Install, good news is that if you can get into safe mode then you can back your stuff up. Hope this helps...

Aurora and Norton Antivirus?

I suspiciously got the Aurora virus at the exact same time I installed Norton Antivirus. Now Norton isn't picking it up so I can remove it. I know there are other programs and ways of removing Aurora, but why should I pay $50 for another spyware program? Why isn't Norton picking up on it? My settings are configured to find spyware and adware. Is it because I may have gotten the virus FROM Norton software? Help please.

Ok first of all Norton can't install a virus other ways Norton would have some law suits to attend to. Then everyone who had Norton could sue symantec for the money they need. So there is your proof that Norton isn't the virus maker also the reason isn't picking it up is because you need to update your virus definitons. Do that and then do a scan again if it fails then this means that there isn't a virus because I run Norton and I'm fine.
Norton is an anti-virus. Aurora is spyware.

Download and scan your machine with one of these GOOD anti-spyware programs:

SUPERAntiSpyware:

A-Squared:

http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free...

Ewido (Now AVG Anti-Spyware)

http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

All the above have a free edition, that's what you want to download!
I never cared for Norton's, too many things get through it. For my personal computer I use Avast (www.avast.com). It's free for personal use and I've never had a problem with it. Avast finds corrupted emails I get daily from my website which Norton's never found and I haven't had any problems with spyware or virus' since switching to Avast.

The Windows Installer service manages the installation and removal of programs. The service applies a set of centrally defined setup rules during the installation process. These setup rules define the installation and configuration of the installed program. Windows Installer uses the Microsoft installation engine to install or remove programs. If the registration of the Microsoft installation engine is corrupted, you may not be able to remove programs that you have installed by using Windows Installer. In that case, you have to unregister and reregister the Windows Installer service. To do this, follow these steps:

1.Start your computer in Safe mode. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Restart the computer.

    b. After the BIOS information is displayed, press F8.

    c. Use the DOWN ARROW key to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.

    d. Use the UP ARROW key and the DOWN ARROW key to select your computer, and then press ENTER.

2.Log on to the computer as local administrator.

3.Click Start, click Run, type cmd.exe, and then click OK.

4.At the command prompt, type msiexec /unregister , and then press ENTER.

5.At the command prompt, type msiexec /regserver, and then press ENTER.

6.At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER to close the command prompt.

7.Remove the software program from Add or Remove Programs.

Why do some XP Services unexpectedly stop?

In my situation, the services that stop are DHCP Client, Themes, Windows Audio, and Wireless Zero Configuration. This happens about once a day, and it's starting to get annoying. I've scanned my computer with 5 different programs, finding no spyware, adware, viruses, etc. What is causing these services to stop??

Why do some XP Services unexpectedly stop?antispam

    Because Windows sucks.
