How do I get rid of viruses and annoying, offensive pop-up ads?

Offensive porn comes up sometimes for NO reason and it's changed my homepage to some seemingly untrustworthy virus removal website. Get notices at the bottom of my screen CONSTANTLY that there is spyware and adware and a pernicious virus on my computer. HELP!!
