My computer locks up frequently. Help?!!?

It locks up online. I ran a check--no viruses, adware, or spyware were found. I don't know what to do. I'm running windows xp, Dell Inspiron 6000. I've had such good luck with it until now. Please help. Thanks in advance!

Try cleaning the computer. Several steps, might take a while.

1. Start %26gt; control panel %26gt; internet options %26gt; content tab

2. Click on Auto complete %26gt; clear forms %26gt; OK twice

3. General tab %26gt; delete cookies (answer yes/ok when asked are you sure)

4. General tab %26gt; delete files (including check mark offline files)

5. Clear history, then change the spinner box to 5 days (or less)

Next we do a disk cleanup and defrag:

Start %26gt; programs %26gt; accessories %26gt; system tools %26gt; disk cleanup.

Check mark everything and run it. Be patient.

Same as above, system tools %26gt; disk defragmentation. This could take a few hours if you've never done it or it's been a while. You can run it while you're alseep if you so desire.

This should give you a cleaner computer and hopefully delete some bad cookies or files that are causing things to lock up.

If problem persists, try a system restore to a date prior to when the lock up problems began. Again, I hope the cleaning steps above will be enough.
